Though I agree with you, my feeling was that if an experienced editor has that reaction, there are likley to be a lot of serious readers who have the same reaction. It may just be peculiar to the particulars of this story. I must admit, though, I found the switch to the third person minimally disruptive and in losing immediacy the story gained a stark quality which I liked. When I eventually incorporate it into the planned novel that surrounds it, I may change both the title and the p.o.v. back - or maybe not. I'm surprised you havent received the two versions of the story yet, I mailed them first class several days ago. DC mail!
